For a brief explanation, As-Syafi'iyah Islamic University is a development of the As-Syafi'iyah Islamic Education Academy (AKPI) which was founded on November 14 1965, and on March 12 1969 the AKPI was upgraded to a University and currently is located in Jakarta.
Din Syamsuddin said that other private universities, especially Christian campuses, were already superior in the infrastructure sector because they occupied old buildings that only needed minor renovations. "This is the weakness of Islamic universities with others."
He also added that improving their quality, competence and accreditation is primarily an area where Islamic universities fall short in the competition. Din went on to say that in order to reduce the gap between public and private institutions, the government must provide financial support, particularly for the construction of new campuses. "The government should not only provide budgets for state universities."
In my opinion, As-Syafiiyah Islamic University does already have a decent amount of facilities and its not just As-Syafiiyah who is lacking behind because the same can be said to plenty of other Universities at the same level but there is another overlooked problem that others may have overcome but As-Syafiiyah haven't and that is the lack of advertising, the university itself is already well known but the lack of advertising is the reason why it is stuck at the current state.
In conclusion, the reason why As-Syafiiyah is still behind not only because of the common issues that other Islamic universities shares but it also the lack of advertising which keep their applicants number low.
